The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) was established in 1993 and recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations as the only international competitive feature film festival in China in1994. The competition sections for Golden Goblet Awards are open to fictions, documentaries, animations and shorts from all over the world. Being one of the largest and most influential film festivals in Asia, the SIFF Film Panorama presents the best of classic and new films worldwide. The 24th SIFF in 2021 received a total of 4,443 films from 113 countries and regions signed up for competition and panorama. Among the selected films, 73 are world premieres, 42 are international premieres, 89 are Asian premieres, and 99 are Chinese premieres. SIFFORUM, SIFF Master Class, the Belt and Road Film Week, SIFF MARKET, and the International Film & TV Online Market are designed to build up a cultural bridge with the world, as well as to foster the growth of young Chinese filmmakers, and drive vigorous development of the film industry in China.
